Samarth reached out to the members of our community to explore how they celebrated Raksha Bandhan, from maintaining a box full of all their rakhis to tying rakhis on both the brothers and the bhabhi’s wrists, our Samarth seniors have the most exciting traditions.

After interviewing Mr. Chhabra, Mr. Jhamkhandi, Mr. Skhikhamoni and Mrs. Sudharmoni, Mr. Shekhar Gupta and Mrs. Meenu Gupta, Mr. Shio Shankar and Mrs. Gayatri Devi, we came across a lot of interesting ways in which they celebrate this special occasion.

They shared stories that made us smile, and beautifully described the excitement of celebrating rakhi and exchanging gifts from them when they were kids to when they had their kids and their new traditions. Mrs. Gupta mentioned how Mr. Gupta had collected all the rakhis over the years and how she had even reused them as gifts for his sisters.

The process of sisters selecting the rakhis for their brothers and the brothers selecting the gifts Is a wonderful way to show how much they care. Even if their children live far away, they still keep their Indian traditions alive by continuing to tie rakhis.

But the best part of all is what Raksha Bandhan means to our Samarth members. It’s not just about the rakhis; it’s about the strong and special bond between siblings. It’s about passing down this special bond and tradition to their kids. Mr. Chhabra mentioned how both of his sisters have made it a tradition to tie rakhis to both his and his wife, followed by a special lunch at their place.

Raksha Bandhan isn’t just another festival for our Samarth community. It’s a time to celebrate family, togetherness, and the unique ties that make us who we are. Be a part of this celebration and don’t miss out on their fun and wholesome ways of celebrating Raksha Bandhan.
