There really is nothing like music to keep you going and put you in a good mood. Sometimes, the music feels like an escape from all that is happening around us. When you feel stressed out, all you need is a little bit of soul-stirring music to get you back in your groove. While the music lovers all over the world are same, and we have many different genres of music, we Indians are kind of lucky that we have some fantastic music as part of our movie industry. If you take Bollywood, we have some superb singers like Lata Mangeshkar, Mohammed Rafi, Kishore Kumar, Mannade, Mukesh, Yesudas, Asha Bhonsle, and many more singers have rendered some beautiful, evergreen songs that are appreciated, even by today’s generation.

Quite early on, we had only the radio to listen to songs, and then with the advent of TV, radio became unfashionable. Then came the Internet and mobile devices and the way enjoy music has changed. Gladly, the radio has now been revived and is a raging favourite again. Many people tune into their favourite FM channels while on the road and this makes the traffic and the daily commute more bearable.

Options to listen to songs

Apart from the radio, the other traditional means of listening to songs are using the CDs or DVDs, if you have a player. Or else, if you have a computer or a music system where you can use pen drives, then you can use that option too. There are many channels on TV that keep playing songs throughout the day and night as well.

However, there are many websites and apps also which can help you listen to songs. Especially, if you are using a mobile device and an app, you can listen to songs on the run, wherever you are, at any time. There are several music streaming sites like gaana.com, saavn.com, sareegama.com, onlineradios.in, etc. that help you stream your favourite songs all through. There are free songs as well as easy and affordable subscription options on these sites that you can check out. For Western music lovers, there is a site called Every Noise at Once. The homepage shows you the hundreds of different music genres like pop, rock, country, electronic, jazz etc. and when you click on each, you get to see the artists’ names and then you can pick and choose and start playing the songs.

Apps

Two of the most popular song apps are Ssaavn and Gaana that you can check out. Download these apps for free from the Appstore/Playstore (Android or Apple) on your mobile device and create a login by providing the required details. Once again, these apps allow you to choose your favourite songs and create your playlists and keep playing those songs. There are a few free songs as well as the subscription options, the same as that on the website. The other apps that you can check out are Wynk, Hungama etc. If you are a western music fan, you can check out apps like Pandora, Spotify, TuneIn, Shazam, etc.

A dedicated device

If you are not comfortable using mobile devices and would rather prefer an old transistor-like device for listening to the songs, then please check out the Carvaan Portable Music Player, which is available at the Samarth web store.  While a few features may differ based on the price, in general, it is a device that comes with thousands of pre-loaded songs. Most of these are evergreen Hindi songs of Kishore Kumar, Lata Mangeshkar, R.D Burman and many other such legends. The device can play in USB and Bluetooth modes so that you can play your own songs too. It comes with inbuilt stereo speakers, allowing you to enjoy the real song experience.

With so many options to choose from, it seems to easy to keep that love of music going and keep ourselves in a good mood, so pick your choice and get going.
