Chewing on some New Year resolutions as we approach the New Year is nothing new. Most of us do it. And few of us follow it up also. Of course, some of us forget about it till the next year! However, this New Year here is something for you to think about. How about trying something different in 2023- the coming year? Do something that you have never done before for whatever reasons it might be. Of course, we are not talking about looting a bank or anything extreme that doesn’t agree with you. A few things may fall outside our comfort zone, yet, we can give it a go.
As an inspiration to try something different, you could look up the story of the recently released Amitabh Bachchan movie, Uunchai. In this movie, three aged friends take a trek to the Everest base camp as a tribute to their beloved friend who could not complete his wish. Indeed, an Everest base camp trek is arduous. It tests the physical and mental strengths of even young people. However, the trio decides to give it a go and to know if they succeeded or if it turned out to be a Himalayan blunder, one needs to watch the movie. The point is they decided to do something different and adventurous that people their age usually wouldn’t do, even if for the sake of their friend. You need to climb Everest, but maybe, you can go kayaking?
Travel Abroad

Join Now >
Here is an easy one that you can probably plan for in 2023. How about taking a foreign trip? More so if you have never taken one. Start planning, and fix the destination, budget, mode, etc. For example, if you like to travel solo or with your spouse, you could look up packages that offer that. If you prefer a group trip, you can collate a group or join an operator offering group packages. The destinations can be Asian, such as Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Cambodia, etc. You could opt for a Europe tour after March, once the winter is over. Even Australia and New Zealand are great destinations for a fun-filled holiday. Even the Middle East has a lot to offer tourists, and it doesn’t cost you a bomb. If you love wildlife, then perhaps, you could head to Africa. Even the Americas have exciting opportunities to explore nature and cities. So, start planning and get going.
Hold an Exhibition
Without your realising it, you might have a collection of something with you. A stamp collection, artifacts purchased from across India or the world, or some olden-day classics like books, CDs or gramophones, comic books, etc., are great to showcase. If you are a DIY person who has been churning out creations in arts and crafts, then that is your collection. If you have been photographing, print a few good ones. Use your collection to hold an exhibition. It could be small-scale, at your house, or at the community hall. Invite your friends and family and create an occasion to socialise and inspire the young generation to follow hobbies.
Underwater Exploration
Many people have a fear of underwater. In the movie Dil Chahta Hain, we see that Arjun, played by Hrithik Roshan, is aquaphobic and tries to duck from his friends’ plan of underwater diving. However, with a little push from the helpful instructor Laila, he manages to dive and comes up with a life-changing experience. That’s how it is with some things when we decide to move out of our comfort zone. Many places in India, like Andaman, Lakshadweep, Goa, Pondicherry, Kovalam, Dwarka, etc., offer safe underwater diving explorations with experienced personnel to assist you. You could explore this option in the coming year and try something different in 2023.
Kayaking
If you feel slightly adventurous, try kayaking, which you can undertake in many places across India. Kayaking takes you on a water route, which, at times, can be rough for a certain distance. The operators follow all safety guidelines, with experienced personnel to guide you. You can go kayaking in Leh, Srinagar, Rishikesh, Goa, Kerala, Karnataka, Sikkim, Arunachal, Pondicherry, etc. It is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.
Hot Air Balloon Ride
From land to water to the sky! How about going up in the sky to get a bird’s eye view of the world around you? Hot air balloon rides are slowly becoming popular in many tourist destinations in India. There is one available at the iconic Taj Mahal, in Lonavala in Maharashtra, at the beaches in Goa, at the ancient Hampi monuments in Karnataka, the twin cities of Rajasthan, Jaipur and Udaipur, the scenic Himachal Pradesh, and even near Delhi in Damdama Lake, Sohna, Neemrana. Check out the details, plan, and take a short ride to create a lifetime memory and try something different in 2023.
