Dharamshala

An easy escape from the summer heat, Dharamshala makes a great destination for people of all ages.  The place offers a unique blend of culture, architecture and food to indulge in. One can even find accommodation at one of the monasteries where they can take part in pujas and meditation centres.

You can take a cab to McLeodganj also known as the “Little Lhasa” as it is home to the Dalai Lama and houses a large Tibetan population. In case you can’t get enough of the scenic view, pack a picnic and drive further up to Bhagsu waterfalls. For all the cricket enthusiasts, HPSC Cricket stadium makes another worthy sightseeing spot. The closest airport is Kangra and the railway station, Pathankot.

Coonoor

A lesser-known hill station in the tranquil Nilgiris of Tamil Nadu, Coonoor offers a serene atmosphere to unfold and relax. You can stay in colonial style cottages in the tea estates, take a stroll in the landscaped Sim’s Park or visit the Droog Fort at dawn.

Dolphin’s Nose, a vantage point offering views of the cascading Catherine Falls is another sigh-worth-seeing. Coonoor is quaint and away from touristy ghettos and noise, making it a perfect summer getaway.

Kalimpong

Situated around 51 KM from Darjeeling, this quaint little town in West Bengal is one of the less frequented tourist destinations in India. Since it is situated at a lower altitude than Darjeeling, the climate is pleasant all year round, making it a perfect spot for your summer getaway. The town is packed with stunning colonial era buildings and offers a majestic view of Mt.kanchenjunga and other Himalayan peaks as well.

Kalimpong is also in close proximity of other tourist destinations, such as Lava, Loleygaon, Darjeeling, and even Gangtok, so it serves as an excellent base for you to start your exploration!

Chota Char Dhaam Yatra

The Char Dham yatra can be an exhausting affair, especially for senior citizens. Chota Char Dham Yatra offers a feasible alternative while offering the same wholesome religious experience. The journey begins at Yamunotri, heading towards Gangotri, followed by Kedarnath, and then Badrinath.

Each dham is located at a height of at least 3000 metres. The scenic beauty of the mountains and valleys throughout the journey keeps one refreshed and energised. Don’t forget to pack your best woollens and shoes for the trek.

Rome

Rome is a great place to explore for people of all ages. The Colosseum, Palatine Hill, the Roman Forum, and the underground levels of St. Clemente’s Basilica are some of the must-visit sights.

Trastevere is a neighbourhood that offers an authentic “wine and dine by the cobblestones sidewalk” experience. You can then shift the vibe of the vacation to a more relaxed mood by spending a few days in the Tuscan countryside. Devour a wine tour, Unwind in picturesque squares, gaze up at centuries-old palazzos, and just soak up the Tuscan sun amidst breathtaking scenery.

Bali

Postcard-perfect beaches, lush greenery, waterfalls, magnificent temples and ultimate shopping streets, Bali is the ultimate paradise on a budget. You can indulge in relaxing spa treatments like the famous Balinese massage with traditional herbs and spices. Lively markets, picturesque galleries, the magnificent Ubud Palace, and Sacred Monkey Forest make the city of Ubud a must-visit.

For a more authentic experience, you can hire a driver for cheap to take you around the entire island and give you thrilling insight into the culture. Don’t forget to pack sunscreen and hats for a fun sun-burn free trip.

Gangtok

The northeastern states of India offer unparalleled beauty. Every summer, Gangtok hosts the national flower festival that brings together a range of fun-filled activities, the beauty of flowers and some decent knowledge about plantations. Many species of orchids, roses, cacti, ferns, and alpine plants are displayed during the show. Besides soaking in the arresting views of snow-capped mountains lining the horizon and lush greenery, one can also indulge in activities like yak safari or devour some of the best confectionery in the country.

We don’t blame you, picking your next vacation destination is no easy task. Spend some time finding out the kind of accommodation, food, activities and culture the place has to offer. Be clear about your budget and the kind of vibe you’re looking for. Have at least a rough itinerary in mind and make timely bookings. But most importantly, let your heart stir the wheel!
